Christmas can be lousy, even in the town of Santa Claus, Indiana. This holiday, Cameron Jones is pinned by the weight of depression rivaling fruitcake in density. His young daughter is moving away. A sleazy reporter is dogging him. The foul-mouthed goldfish hallucination nagging him is no help at all.
Dogwater Hunt, is a broke, obsessed, alien – abductee who sleeps in a tin-foil lined closet and has a pathological fear of holiday lights. He’s desperate to prove Earth will be visited on Christmas Eve by mysterious “Santa aliens.” If he can catch “Santa,” he’ll push forth the frontiers of science – and get a new TV. Santa Claus – Kris Kringle, not the town – feels beaten down by centuries of children growing up and no longer believing. The reality of his imaginary world- living on cookies, hangin’ with the elves – is so absurd, he can’t help but wonder, “Do I really exist?” Santa hangs up his stockings and tasseled hat for good. Cameron and Dogwater are unwittingly caught up in a plan to save Santa from himself. IN THE ST. NICK OF TIME is a story for adults about the quest for the holiday we loved as kids. It's William Pepper's first book, but not his last. On sale now. For more information, check out www.carnivalofglee.com |
