WELCOMING participants in the Truly Multi-Cultural Women's Reading Group - a group of bi/multi-racial women, or single-race women living in the fringes of our social, community and family worlds who gather in a communal discussion and social group based on a reading group model.
These monthly gatherings occur in someone's home or other locale where we come together to break bread and discuss the book of that month in a supportive, open environment. Proposed future books include: "Skin Deep: Women Writing on Color, Culture, and Identity," and/or "Half and Half: Writers on Growing Up Biracial and Bicultural." To join this North Seattle-based group, please contact Carol at cjambura@att.net. First meeting scheduled for Monday, August 20th in North Seattle area. August selection is "Under Her Skin: How Girls Experience Race in America" by Pooja Makhijani. |

My book club isn't sure about this book--it seems too "deep". Has anyone else had a good experience with it?
