susan howatch

She is one of my favorite writers. All of her stuff is very readable. She began doing gothic fiction (Penmarric), then family sagas (The Rich Are Different). For the past 20 years or so she has produced two wonderful series centering around clergy in the Church of England. Glittering Images was the first of a series of six. Whenever I am between books, I reread it.

What I appreciate particularly is the way she combines the tension between spirituality, psychology andsexuality. Her protagonists are usually Anglican priests who delve into some personal mystery. Highly recommended. I would love to hear from anyone else obsessed with this offer.

I too am a fan of Susan Howach - I have read three of the church of England series. I will look for the other three.
