I too am a fan of Susan Howach - I have read three of the church of England series. I will look for the other three.

are there no Howatch's fans out there. Ea gads, I can't believe it. I thought my Tudor wiki people would jumping all over this. It's very important to read all her novels in order. Its not neccesary, but you can see her writing style improve contiually, and her development of each character is done so well, that you find yourself reading these books once a year, just to visit the people you miss. Ms Howatch does a tremendous amount of research, and it shows. She has extremely witty dialog, which uses the English language to it's fullest. Her knowledge of the subject, is astounding. Be prepared to read these on the beach or late at night as they are page turners. Her church series is a slight departure from her gothic series, but equally intriguing. These books were written during her conversion to Anglo/Catholic philosophy, which she experienced in latter life. She is a trained attorney, and holds a million dollar chair at Cambridge. Please someone read the first 5 books, ending with "Sins of the Fathers" which is mystical, which plenty of tragic overtones. She is truly s feminist in the highest sense of the word. My only disappointment is that she has never made a mini series of them, as they are quite long. Maybe some one out there e will know. My guess is intellectual property might have some ting yo do eiy iy, nut I would love join her wiki ig she has one.
