The rule of 50 and Anne of Green Gables

When I was a very young reader (under 10) I started "Anne of Green Gables" and knew right away I did not like the book. I don't remember now why but I tried twice to read it as a youngster and both times put it down. Someone very influential must have wanted me to read that book because I picked it up again and finally enjoyed it. It may have been a bit more maturity or the influence of my mood or the mysterious advisor but I am thrilled I gave it a third try. Some books I have tried as an adult I have to say I have put down and not picked up again. Do you find this valuable?

I read "Anne of Green Gables" when I was very young (66 now). I just loved it! But I never read all of the series. I read my mother's copy and it still sits on her bookshelf (she will be 92 in November!) I have three sisters and have told them all that I must have that book when the time comes. As for the rule of 50 - I really have trouble not finishing what I have started so I pour over the book sites and on-line reviews and choose very carefully what my next book will be. Rarely am I required to invoke the Rule of 50. Lucky me!! Do you find this valuable?
