I am struggling with Lionel Shriver's 'We need to talk about Kevin' and your comment has given me hope as everyone I know who has read this have loved it also. 1  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

'We need to talk about Kevin' is a written in a fashion to 'frustrate' the reader. The use of words do not help the reader to develop an image of the charaters. Instead, we get a true picture of the author instead! As an avid reader, I enjoy nothing more than reading a well written story that 'flows' and conjures up images within the story of the characters etc. Not an author who uses his thesaurus at any given chance! I disliked this book, therefore, I will not be reading any other book by Lionel Shriver. 1  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

'We need to talk about Kevin': The personality of the author invades the story throughout. Lionel Shriver's use of words can frustrate the reader to the point of anger! I enjoy, nothing more than reading a wonderfully written story that flows, as it conjures up images of the characters and situations that arise within its content. This book failed to deliever! Rather than using a thesaurus at any given chance, Lionel Shriver should have consentrated on writing from the heart. Furthermore, his imagination and use of language regarding pregnancy from a womans perspective was delusional and disturbing. And once again, I was reminded of whom was writing this dribble. Reading this pretentious rubbish, I find myself questioning, 'Why give the Orange Prize to this man?' 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I also find myself want to put the book down and read something else. It seems like the author is making Eva whine or make you think Eva is better than everyone else at time. Also I think Lionel Shriver is a woman from what I read in the back and the pic. 1  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?
